Kultur for Folket is a community of the production company Kultur for Folket AS and the non-profit organization Kultur for Folket Forenning, jointly organizing events in support of cultural initiatives in Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

Our Story

From Solidarity to Heritage Through Art

Kultur for Folket was founded in 2014 to develop cultural cooperation, education, cultural exchange, cultural integration. Today Kultur for Folket is a community of the production company Kultur for Folket AS and the non-profit organization Kultur for Folket Forenning, jointly organizing events in support of cultural initiatives in Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

Our team has many years of experience in organizing cultural events and implementing major cultural events. In the spring of 2022, Kultur for Folket organized the Solidarity Tour in support of Ukrainian ballet dancers unable to return home due to the war. In this tour, 26 performances of Swan Lake and Giselle were organized in Norway and Sweden, the Solidarity Tour caused a great public outcry, in Oslo the performance was attended by the King of Norway Harald 5, in Stockholm the Queen of Sweden Silvia attended the performance.

In total, in 2022-2024, the Kultur for Folket team organized 8 tours in Scandinavia, where Ukrainian artists performed 162 performances of the Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Giselle and circus shows Alice in Wonderland.

2024

Kultur for Folket underwent restructuring in 2023.

In 2024, the company expanded its tour reach and performance offerings.

2024 marked the Scandinavian premiere of the ballet "Ice Princess."

Additionally, 2024 saw the Scandinavian debut of The Circus Theater "Elysium" with their dance and circus show "Alice in Wonderland."

2022

In spring 2022, the Solidarity Tour was launched in support of Ukrainian ballet dancers impacted by the war.

26 performances of Swan Lake and Giselle were held in Norway and Sweden, drawing significant attention.
Notably, the King of Norway and the Queen of Sweden attended performances in Oslo and Stockholm, respectively.

Throughout the war, Kultur for Folket continued its support of Ukrainian ballet and circus artists.

2018

Kultur for Folket shifted its focus to classical ballet, organizing multiple tours featuring soloists from renowned international theaters, bringing ballet masterpieces to Scandinavian audiences.

2014

Professional theater director Elena Volik founded a non-profit organization in Norway dedicated to cultural integration and exchange through performances.

From its inception, the organization, led by Elena, has orchestrated theatrical performances, play readings, festivals,ballet shows, and Scandinavian tours featuring artists from around the globe.

The "Theatre for Life" project was launched, offering six-month theater master classes for adults, covering theatrical skills, stage speech, and movement.

Elena also spearheaded theater arts education for children, producing and directing 6 theater and circus shows that featured both children and professional circus artists. The project garnered significant public support and received backing from the local commune.

Social responsibility

In this tour, 26 performances of Swan Lake and Giselle were organized in Norway and Sweden, the Solidarity Tour caused a great public outcry, in Oslo the performance was attended by the King of Norway Harald 5, in Stockholm the Queen of Sweden Silvia attended the performance. Thanks to the tour, 40 professional Ukrainian ballet dancers from Kyiv, Kharkiv and Dnipro were supported, a rehearsal base was paid for, where artists can live and study between tours, and assistance was provided to the Kyiv Choreographic College for the purchase of electric generators.

Our Performances

From the 2022 we cooperate with Classical Ukrainian Etoile Ballet, which led by directors Anatoly Khandazhevsky and Irina Khandazhevska, showcases the highest artistic caliber of world classical ballet.
With a talented ensemble of professional dancers, including renowned artists from Ukrainian and European theaters, Etoile Ballet has graced prestigious stages worldwide. Since 2018, we have been preparing a tour of the unique circus show Alice in Wonderland, which will premiere in November 2024 at the largest arenas and concert halls in Scandinavia. The performance is presented by Elysium Circus theater, which performs high-tech circus and multimedia dance shows around the world.
